Well this is inneresting…
New details have dropped in Emile Hirsch‘s assault case, where he allegedly attacked a woman at Sundance Film Festival back in January — and now, Emile said he was defending himself!

Hirsch attacked Paramount executive Daniele Bernfeld in the Utah outpost of Tao nightclub, throwing her across a table and choking her. Bernfeld told police shocking details:
“He basically grabbed me at the curve of the elbow, choked me up, threw me across the table, and I felt the front of my throat hit the back of my throat. It was insanely painful and absolutely terrifying.”
Whoa. That is no joke. There’s only one thing about it, though… it seems like Emile doesn’t really remember what happened!
Another film director added a telling quote about the incident:
“I have seen quite a few fights in my life, but this was pretty violent.”
You don’t say?!?!

Hirsch, though, doesn’t really understand what all the fuss is about. He told police that he was “mouthing off” with Bernfeld, but that he didn’t quite remember what went down after having a couple drinks:
“She started kind of causing a ruckus and I sort of started├óΓé¼┬ª intervening and this happened. I don’t think it was much more than that to be honest├óΓé¼┬ªI think she had a go at me and I probably defended myself.”
Hmm… considering everybody else involved was taken back by the severity of the incident, maybe it was “much more than that,” Emile!
Hirsch, who has been charged with aggravated assault and intoxication, is due back in court this August.
