Despite the competing football game and the show’s reputation for being a snoozefest, Sunday’s Emmy Awards had a significant increase in ratings – probably due to the charm, wit and good looks of host Neil Patrick Harris.
Viewership was up 11% from last year, drawing in 13.3 million people and declaring it the most-watched Emmy telecast since 2006!
And the critics took note!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Harris was affable, charming and simultaneously self-deprecating and comically self-aggrandizing. But it wasn’t just him.”
Everyone loved that the show was split into five categories – comedy, drama, reality, variety and mini-series/TV movies!
It gave the evening some direction and made it watchable!
We hope NPH does it again!
