This is beyond awful.
An EMT father named Nicholas Alan Spirdione has been charged with one count of torture, two counts of first degree child abuse, and one charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
The charges came after he savagely beat his 6-month-old son who was left fighting to survive at a hospital with terrible injuries. The 23-year-old Michigan man is now facing life in prison for his actions.
While his son Jesse fights against the severe head trauma injuries that he suffered, the mother and the EMT’s fiancee Cory Stahl, who is severely hearing impaired, believes that the father drugged her with a bunch of medications before attacking their son.
When the mother found their son, she called police who questioned the father before arresting him.
She said:
“He admitted to punching Jesse several times. They think that, from the damage that was done, that he had to have hit him with something or dropped him.”
As for her son’s condition, the mother said:
“They had to remove the bone in his skull to alleviate the brain pressure and the bleeding and the swelling. [Doctors] said it can go either way right now.”
The father, who was only hired as an EMT three weeks ago, was given a bond set at $1.5 million. He is due back in court on May 5th.
