'ER' Actress Shot And Killed After Pulling BB Gun On Police

ER Actress Vanessa Marquez Dead Shot Killed Police

ER actress Vanessa Marquez was shot and killed on Thursday, the South Pasadena Police Department confirmed.
Marquez, who is known for her roles as Ana in Stand And Deliver and as Nurse Wendy Goldman in 27 episodes of the hit NBC medical drama, starting with the pilot, was 49 years old.

According to Friday’s press release, police had been performing a welfare check at her apartment when they saw she was having some kind of seizure:

“While speaking to her, officers became aware she was possibly suffering from mental health issues, became uncooperative, and appeared to be unable to care for herself.”

That’s when things took a tragic turn:

“They continued to speak to her for over an hour and a half in an attempt to offer her medical care. She then armed herself with a handgun and pointed it at the officers, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Marquez was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Lt. Joe Mendoza told USA Today the handgun recovered from Marquez was in fact a BB gun.
Sadly in recent years Marquez was better known for her off screen drama. Last October she accused George Clooney of blacklisting her for complaining about sexual harassment.
Such a horrible end to her story.
