Eric McCormack isn’t really gay like his famous character Will Truman, but he may want his son to be.
Eric was reunited with his Will & Grace co-star Debra Messing at a recent Trevor Live event to benefit The Trevor Project’s suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ teens.
In a bit of banter befitting their Emmy-winning former writers, the pair called out Joe Biden and exchanged quips (Eric called Debra’s new show Smash “gayer” than Will & Grace) before talking about the cause of equality. Eric began:
“We want all LGBTQ kids to grow up in a world where they feel safe and equal to their straight peers.”
Eric also said, possibly joking, that he hopes his son grows up gay. Debra went on to joke:
“I’d be devastated if my son grows up to be a hetero. I mean, I’d still love him… but as a parent you just envision a certain life for your child. I mean, if he’s straight, think of all the fabulous things he’s going to miss out on.”
Eric replied that there was no way Debra could give birth to a straight child. Ooh, burn! Talk about Grace under fire!
