ESPN has snatched up the rights to exclusively air the Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon for the next 12 years, ending NBC’s 43 years as the tennis tourney’s broadcast home.
If any die hard NBC fans are upset by this movie, ESPN at least promised:
“Comprehensive coverage from start to finish across a variety of platforms will result in more tennis for fans and all of it live.”
NBC expressed interest in continuing to air Wimbledon, but was simply outbid. Maybe NBC spent too much money when the network outbid both ESPN and Fox for the rights to air the Olympics through 2020!
