Old-timey ESPN broadcaster Ron Franklin was pulled from the air after calling ESPN sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards “sweetcakes” during an off-air fight.
During a pre-game production meeting, things became a little heated between Ron and Jeannine when she tried to contribute to a conversation about Ron’s wife being elected mayor of Alameda, CA.
“Why don’t you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes,” Franklin told Jeannine.
“Don’t call me sweetcakes, I don’t like being talked to like that,” Edwards responded.
“OK then, asshole,” said Franklin.
ESPN management wanted to pull him from the Chik-Fil-A bowl broadcast, but it was too late to find a replacement, so they canceled his appearance on the Fiesta Bowl instead.
GOOD! What a complete jerk! “Leave this to the boys”?!?! Who even says that?! Someone needs to tell him that it isn’t the 1950s anymore!
