Dr. Patrick's cancer pets

All pet owners must read this!

Pet lovers worldwide should know that our cats and dogs are prone to developing potentially life threatening cancer, just like us.

Pets get some of the same cancers as people, but they may manifest their illness in subtle ways sometimes not so obvious to the naked eye.

Teddy Hilton‘s own celebrity pet vet Dr. Patrick Mahaney wants to help you spot signs of cancer in you furry friends, so that they can be treated before it’s too late.

He says the Veterinary Cancer Group (VCG) has a list of helpful tips alerting pet owners of the clinical signs of cancer to look out for in our cats, dogs, and other animal pals. Here are VCG’s Pet Cancer Awareness 10 Pointers:

1. Unusual swellings that persist or grow
2. Sores that do not heal
3. Weight loss
4. Loss of appetite
5. Unusual bleeding or discharge
6. Offensive odor
7. Difficulty eating or swallowing
8. Hesitation to exercise or loss of stamina
9. Persistent lameness or stiffness
10. Difficulty breathing, urinating, or defecating

Should you see any of the above signs, your pet should have an examination with your veterinarian ASAP!
