Wow. We really can’t believe Family Guy would pull something so serious!
But it seems Seth MacFarlane‘s usually ludicrous cartoon chose heartwrenching over hilarious on Sunday night.
After eleven seasons, the writers decided to kill off a MAJOR character! Executive producer Steve Callaghan says:
“Well, this was an idea that got pitched in the writers room and it sort of caught fire, and we thought it could be a fun way to shake things up. As soon as this idea came up, we started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change wil affect the family dynamics and the characters.”
So who was the character? SPOILER ALERT! (obvi!)
It was BRIAN!
The Family Guy family dog voiced by Seth himself was hit by a car and couldn’t even be saved by Stewie’s inconveniently broken time machine.
So sad!
Brian was replaced by a new dog named Vinny played by The Sopranos Tony Sirico. Vinny promises to be a very different type of dog. Steve says:
“Oh they’re very different. Brian was very smart and studious and intellectual, and Vinny is just a lot more of a rough around the edges.”
We still can’t believe it! Brian was such huge part of the show!
Will the death breathe new life into the aging sitcom? Or will this be remembered as the moment animation domination finally jumped the shark?
Will U keep watching?
