FBI Analyzing Critical DNA Found At Nancy Guthrie's Home -- Could This Be The Answer To Finding Her?!

Nancy Guthrie Investigation: Sheriff Regrets Taking Crime Scene Tape Off House As Early As They Did

Finally, there’s been a huge new development in the search for Nancy Guthrie.

ABC News sources revealed on Thursday that the FBI has received and is now analyzing very, very key DNA evidence found in the 84-year-old’s home. And while the evidence isn’t brand new, the fact that the FBI now has control of it could be huge!

Here’s the deal. The DNA sample was first sent to a private lab in Florida, which the Pima County Sheriff’s Department uses. But in recent weeks, according to the sources, that lab sent the sample to the FBI, which had been eagerly awaiting its chance to get involved.

The FBI has access to some powerful new technology, so they can now conduct advanced analysis on the sample. And hopefully, it’ll all lead back to Nancy’s kidnapper!

The FBI has confirmed all this, too. An official stated that the DNA is a hair sample, and it was originally collected from the Arizona home in February, after Savannah Guthrie‘s mom went missing. They detailed:

“There is no new DNA evidence in the Nancy Guthrie case. The FBI requested this material over two months ago. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office sent it to a private lab in Florida. Eleven weeks later, that lab has now transferred an original hair sample to the FBI Laboratory for testing. We remain fully committed to this investigation.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department previously said there was a major issue with the DNA recovered, revealing the sample was mixed with more than one person’s DNA, making it a much more difficult and longer process. Recently, they even reportedly told a Neighborhood Watch group that it could take six months to isolate what investigators need. Yikes! Fingers crossed the FBI can do it MUCH faster!

The sources also shared that five other labs around the country are currently working on this case as well, though it’s unclear what role they’re playing or if there’s any more DNA samples that may be relevant.

Defending their handling of the investigation so far, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department also reacted to the news, writing on X (Twitter):

“PCSD has worked with the FBI since the beginning of the Guthrie investigation. This is not new information. The private lab we utilize in Florida continues to share information with the FBI lab & other partner labs across the country. DNA analysis remains ongoing.”

Well, it seems like a major step in the right direction now that the FBI has access to this DNA. We sincerely hope they can find some answers — and quickly!!
