The FDA has just approved the first pill that will be used to prevent HIV, called Truvada!
Truvada has been a around for a while, actually, and has been used to treat HIV — not to prevent it. Now it’s approved to do both!
This will help people who are at high risk of acquiring HIV through sexual activity, like those who have HIV-infected partners.
In a three-year study, they found that daily doses cut the risk of infection in healthy gay and bisexual men by 42 percent, when accompanied by condoms and counseling!
That’s a great number! So fab!
