If you’re part woman, part silicone, listen up: Those implants won’t last forever.
The FDA recently announced that silicone implants are not permanent, and that the more years you have them, the more likely you will face complications.
Despite the risks of rupture and scar tissue, surgeons report that most women still want the implants even after being warned.
Said Dr. Michael Zenn, vice chief of plastic surgery at Duke University Medical Center:
“It doesn’t discourage a single one of them, which is pretty amazing. This requires almost lifetime maintenance when you have a breast implant in. If you’re not telling patients that, you do them a disservice.”
The bottom line: Don’t rush into implants. Think about the consequences of getting them before you make the plunge!
