Felicity Huffman Macy‘s oldest daughter Sofia will not be attending college in the fall amid the college admissions scandal.
According to ET, the 18-year-old will be taking time off after her high school graduation, which William H. Macy was just spotted buying congratulatory balloons for on Wednesday.

Their source adds the family is spending a lot of time together amid the controversy, especially as they await Felicity’s sentencing, as she is due in court on September 13. It’s also said Sofia and her younger 17-year-old sister, Georgia, don’t have any “ill will” towards their parents over their alleged involvement in the scheme.
As we previously reported, the Desperate Housewives star is accused of paying $15,000 in the form of a charity contribution to improve the 18-year-old’s SAT scores. Allegedly, Sofia was given extra time to take the test and the proctor corrected answers to increase her score by about 400 points.
It was just in May that the actress pled guilty in court, taking “full responsibility” for her actions in a statement she released the month prior.
The ET insider dished on how she and her family are handling the effects of her alleged involvement:
“While William and Felicity have been through a lot, they are coming to terms with their situation and are dedicated to picking up the pieces and putting their family life back together. Felicity’s friends and fans are proud of how brave and honest she’s been. She’s been as transparent as possible and knows she made a mistake.”
Considering it’s possible the mom-of-two could be sent to jail, we’d understand why they’re focusing on family.
The source continued:
“The family realizes Felicity might serve time and while they wait for the sentencing, they are taking it one day at a time and truly appreciating what they have. Their daughters are doing well and have tried to keep their routines and make the best of the end of the school year, and are making summer plans. They are definitely planning a lot of quality family time. The girls are very close to their mom and dad and have been sympathetic throughout. They will do anything they can to be there for their mother.”
Sounds like the Macys are really trying to make the best of it.
Of course, all the weight is on Felicity as another insider says she “worries non-stop because she knows she has made the worst mistake of her life.”
“Felicity and William are doing their very best to stand a united front. This experience has been humbling for Felicity. She is completely aware of her mistake and wants nothing more than to get past this time.”
As we’re sure her daughters would!
While it’s unclear if Sofia will have to retake her SAT scores, it seems like her taking time off to wait for the scandal to blow over is in her best interests.
