WARNING: This story includes graphic details.

On Tuesday, it was reported that three people were found hammered to death with their throats slit inside a Florida residence — and the murders may be linked to witchcraft. No, you aren’t reading a recap for True Detective.

Apparently, the way in which the bodies were positioned, as well as the timing of the slayings, suggested that these deaths could be ritualistic in nature. Supposedly, the incident took place on Friday’s blue moon — a rare lunar event.

Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan shared:

“Initial research has led us to believe that there was a potential that it was a ritualistic killing. The elements of the case, are odd at best.”

Apparently it has taken several days to comb through all the information at the complicated crime scene. The victims were the reclusive Smith family — 77-year-old Voncile Smith and her sons, 49-year-old Richard Thomas Smith and 47-year-old John William Smith.

It’s reported that the eldest son was an employee of Department of Homeland Security and was shot in the head — which authorities believe was an effort to incapacitate him.

The sheriff continued:

“There are different factions of (witchcraft). While it doesn’t bother me to release that particular thing, I most assuredly do not want to defame or demean any particular practice.”

Hmm, very inneresting.

In a bit of good news, the law enforcers revealed that they do in fact have a person of interest in custody. However, the home showed no signs of forced entry or robbery.

He noted:

“While we have a person of interest. there are still many things about this case we want to pursue.”

Curiouser and curiouser!
