Tragic Food Network Star Murder Update — Will The Accused Face The Death Penalty?!
A new update has emerged for this tragic story.
It’s been several months since Robert Jason Owens was arrested for murdering pregnant Food Network Star Cristie Schoen Codd and her husband J.T. Codd.
Earlier this week, the Buncombe County District Attorney filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty against the defendant for the murder of the late couple AND their unborn baby. Whoa.
As we previously reported, Owens is charged with two counts of felony first-degree murder, felony murder of an unborn child, larceny, and breaking and entering. That’s quite a list.
We’re not shocked that the D.A. is seeking the death penalty — especially after it was revealed that Owens admitted to killing J.T. by hitting him with his pickup truck and hid part of their bodies inside a wood-stove in his home.
In case you forgot, Owens was the expectant parents’ neighbor in Leicester, North Carolina and had even done odd jobs around their home. In fact, the handyman even attended the duo’s wedding.
However, this isn’t the only time the accused has been linked to foul play — he also was suspected in the 2000 disappearance of 18-year-old Zebb Quinn.
It’ll be inneresting to see how this all plays out when this disturbing crime goes to trial.
Our thoughts are with the Schoen and Codd families during this trying time.
