Earlier this morning, a student equipped with two knives at Franklin Regional High in Murrysville, Pennsylvania went on a stabbing spree that resulted in 20 people being seriously injured.
The suspect has finally been identified as 16-year-old Alex Hribal, who was described by his classmates as a “quiet teen” who didn’t have many friends. However, none seemed to know whether or not he had been bullied in the past, which leaves his motives unclear.
Witnesses say most of the attacks occurred before classes began, in hallways and the classrooms of the science wing of the building.
Luckily, the school’s principal, Sam King, took action and was able to put an end to the horrific situation when he tackled Alex and was able to hold him until authorities arrived. The principal was not injured in the process, however, a security guard was reportedly stabbed in the abdomen.
Another student by the name of Nate Scimio is being praised for his heroism as he protected a few of his fellow classmates before pulling the fire alarm in an attempt to evacuate the campus. The teen appears to have been stabbed in the arm during the ordeal, however, he later posted a selfie of himself in a hospital gown and a bandage around his arm, and he seems to be just fine.
A young woman who has not yet been identified also took action and helped save the life of a classmate who had been severely injured by applying pressure to their wounds.
At least three of the victims are currently being operated on after being stabbed in multiple organs and two others are still listed as being in critical condition, one of whom is on life support.
Luckily, thanks to heroes like Sam and Nate, the situation didn’t go any further and hopefully all of the victims are able to make full recoveries.
