On his Thursday visit to The View, Frasier alum and Broadway performer David Hyde Pierce revealed that he wed longtime boyfriend, Brian Hargrove, last fall. Back when it was legal for California gay and lesbian couples to have the same rights, privileges and protections as their fellow heterosexual taxpayers.
The usually private star feels compelled to speak up in light of the state Supreme Court’s decision this week to uphold Proposition 8 banning gay marriage.
“Brian and I always kept a low profile. We didn’t hide our lives. We got married very quietly last October 24 and thought that was fine, and then suddenly the state of California said, ‘No, it’s not,'” said Pierce.
Although his marriage is still legal, as are the other gay and lesbian weddings 18,000 that happened, the actor felt “very angry” while awaiting the Prop 8 decision wondering, “‘Gee, I hope it’s OK the Supreme Court thinks I’m married.’ Excuse me, it’s none of your business.”
Amen!!!!
Equality for all!
Belated congrats to the happy couple!
