French courts ruled in favor of YouTube, who was sued because protected content was hosted on the Google-owned website.
TF1 owns the rights to American shows de jour, like Grey’s Anatomy, and is pissed because French citizens are logging onto YouTube instead of turning on their televisions.
The station filed suit in 2008, asking for $175 mil in damages.
Au contraire!
After the courts decreed YouTube can’t possibly prevent users from uploading illicit content, TF1 is in the hole for almost 100 grand in court costs.
Ouch!!
