This is such a tragedy!
JJ Murphy, a Northern Irish actor, has died only four days after filming his first scenes in Game of Thrones.
The 86-year-old actor was cast as Ser Denys Mallister, the older member of the Night’s Watch, in season five and was reportedly ‘delighted’ to have been cast in the popular HBO show.
As of now the cause of death is unknown, but reportedly the actor collapsed and died on Friday, August 8th.
D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, creators of the show, have spoken out in regards to what the show will do about his character.
HBO PR Twitter said:
‘We will not be recasting J.J. Murphy. He was a lovely man, and the best Denys Mallister we could have hoped for. And now his watch is ended.’
So sad! Rest in peace, JJ Murphy.
