Is there about to be an all-out war over Gene Hackman’s fortune?
Weeks after the death of the 95-year-old actor, details about his will have come out, revealing he left everything to his wife, Betsy Arakawa! Gene gave nothing to his children, Christopher, Leslie, and Elizabeth! What!
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ on Friday, the Superman star made Betsy his sole beneficiary in 1995. Gene’s kids are mentioned nowhere in the will, meaning the 64-year-old classical pianist was set to inherit every single penny of his! She may have received a good chunk of money, too! His net worth reportedly was around $80 million! Damn! He didn’t even think to split the cash evenly amongst the four of them, or at least give the children a small portion of the fortune? No wonder why they hadn’t talked to him in a while…

However, Betsy won’t get the money now. She sadly passed away from the rare disease hantavirus a week before Gene died. Per TMZ, the musician left most of her assets to Gene in the will, but there is a provision stating if the couple died within 90 days of each other, it would be considered a simultaneous death, and everything would go to charity. As we mentioned, she died one week before her husband, so it looks like her assets will go to a good cause. Since New Mexico is considered a community property state, her estate may also have a lot of money, and thus her share would go to charity — if there’s no prenup. Meanwhile, his children would get his share since they are his living heirs.
However, it looks like one of them is challenging the will! Andrew M. Katzenstein, a California trust and estate attorney, reportedly was hired by Christopher.
