Country music just lost one of its biggest stars today as the iconic George Jones passed away earlier this morning.
The legendary singer was 81 years old when his lungs finally gave out on him.
According to a family member:
“He has been on oxygen for a long while now and his lungs finally just couldn├óΓé¼Γäót do it anymore and they collapsed and he passed away. He couldn├óΓé¼Γäót breathe anymore on his own.”
George was touring when he was hospitalized in Nashville last week due to a high fever, but it hasn’t been confirmed if that’s what led to his death.
The He Stopped Loving Her Today was one of the most successful artists of the genre, charting more hits than any other country musician and being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992.
