We have a feeling the fans DON’T want to hear this!
In light of all hate he’s been receiving for releasing an altered version of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace in theaters, George Lucas has decided to speak out against the haters!
Here’s George on his decision to make changes to Phantom Menace:
“Changes are not unusual ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ I mean, most movies when they release them they make changes. But somehow, when I make the slightest change, everybody thinks it├óΓé¼Γäós the end of the world. That whole issue between filmmakers and the studios with the studios being able to change things without even letting the director of the movie know├óΓé¼┬ªI├óΓé¼Γäóm very much involved in that [so that├óΓé¼Γäós not happening here].”
“├óΓé¼┬ªMy job is to try to make the best possible movie it can be ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and the current version is the Blu-ray version. That├óΓé¼Γäós the one that├óΓé¼Γäós been made into 3D. But it├óΓé¼Γäós just a conversion. We haven├óΓé¼Γäót made any changes other than the 3D.”
And here’s George on hate he’s received from fans for changing other Star Wars movies:
“…It├óΓé¼Γäós not a religious event. I hate to tell people that. It├óΓé¼Γäós a movie, just a movie…”
“…Star Wars, there├óΓé¼Γäós basically one version ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ it just keeps getting improved a little bit as we move forward├óΓé¼┬ªAll art is technology and it improves every year. Whether it├óΓé¼Γäós on the stage or in music or in painting, there are technological answers that happen, and because movies are so technological, the advances become more obvious.”
He makes valid points, but once again – we REALLY don’t think the hardcore Star Wars fans out there want to hear it!
Ah well. They may moan and complain, but we have a feeling they’ll all continue going to see these new versions of the Star Wars movies anyway!
What do U think? Are U pissed at George Lucas for messing with Phantom Menace???
