German Man Scans QR-Code On Ketchup Bottle, Gets A Phone Full Of Porn Instead!

Step one: buy Ketchup. Step two: scan a QR-code. Step three: watch a porno?!
That’s what happened to a German man when he picked up a bottle of Heinz ketchup this week!
The man, only identified as Daniel K., scanned a QR-code on a bottle of ketchup expecting to get more information on a design contest that was looking for customers to create their own labels.

The only problem was, well, Heinz’s ownership of the website for the contest had expired last year, and the bottle was a leftover one that had mistakenly been recently sold!
A porn site jumped into the gap, scooping up the site linked to the code and sending Daniel to the nudey abyss of the Internet with a site full of scantily clad women!
Daniel told Heinz about it on Facebook:

“Your ketchup really isn’t for under-age people. Even if the bottle was a leftover, it’s still in lots of households… It’s incomprehensible that you didn’t reserve the domain [web address] for one or two years. It really doesn’t cost the Earth.”

To their credit, Heinz apologized quickly, and even offered to send Daniel a bottle of ketchup printed with his own label — the thing he was trying to do when he scanned the code in the first place!
The Internet is a weird, weird place, y’all!
