Nadja Benaissa, a German pop singer who was part of the group “No Angels,” was found guilty of causing bodily harm to her ex-boyfriend by having unprotected sex with him with the full knowledge that she was HIV positive.
Despite committing this deplorable crime, she was not sentenced to any jail time, but instead a two-year suspended prison sentence and 300 hours of community service, which essentially means she’s on probation. The maximum jail time that she could have received was 10 years.
During the trial, Nadja made a formal apology:
“I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart…I wish I could turn back time and make everything undone. But I know that he will never forgive me.”
Nadja refused to make any statements to reporters after the trial, but her attorney Oliver Wallasch said that she had admitted during the trial that she thought she deserved to be punished for her actions.
We agree. She does deserve to be punished and should feel lucky to have gotten off with only a two-year suspended sentence.
