German Shepherd Gives Own Life To Save Owner From Rattlesnake

Awww.

Connie Inglis has been in the business of raising German Shepherds for 40 years.

She has given her life to raising her dogs, and now one of her German Shepherds gave his life to for hers.

It happened when Connie was walking with her 11 year-old pooch, Rugar, two weeks ago outside her kennels.

“Rugar pulled away from me, and I looked and we both just froze.”

Dog and owner had seen the same thing: a rattlesnake, coiled to strike. Inglis moved her hand to protect Rugar, and that’s when the snake struck, aiming for the woman’s stomach.

“But Rugar leapt up and grabbed the head of the snake in his mouth. He slung it against the doghouse until the snake was still.”

Inglis was relived until she noticed the blood coming from the dog’s mouth.

The snake had bitten Rugar in the tongue. Inglis rushed him to the veterinarian, but nothing could be done.

“No question about it,” Inglis says. “He saved my life.”

RIP.
