Gigi Hadid Responds To Claims That She's Only Famous Because Of Her Family

Gigi Hadid is clapping back to haters who think she’s only risen to fame because of her family.
Appearing at a Sydney, Australia event for her collaborations with Reebok, the model responded to criticism that she (and assuming Bella and Anwar Hadid too) have only been able to reach top-model status because of her family ties.

She began:

“People say that I don’t deserve to be where I am because I come from this successful family, but my parents were f**king hard-working.”

Gigi continued on about the work her parents Mohamed and Yolanda Hadid have put in to become successful:

“My dad was a refugee, my mum was on a farm, went to New York and worked to send money back to her family. They worked their asses off and they’ve given me a life because of their hard work, and I work hard to honor that. I shouldn’t stay in my house because people say ‘you don’t deserve to be here because they were successful’. That’s not how I consider it in my house.”

But having hard working parents doesn’t mean the kids haven’t benefited from that power and success! This isn’t the first time Gigi has addressed privilege, she previously talked about the “big guilt of privilege” with Vogue Australia.
It seems to be a common theme among the kids of famous families, remember when Kylie Jenner got flak for her title of ‘self-made billionaire’ over the summer?
