We’re not happy.
We’re NOT HAPPY.
We’re about to start ranting, so before we do, let us offer you this SPOILER WARNING, so we don’t say something you don’t want to know. To repeat..
WARNING: GLEE SPOILERS AHEAD. AWFUL, INFURIATING, RAGEFUL MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW.
Deep breath. And here it is…
It has been revealed that one of our Glee favorites will not only be taking a step back this season, but her character will actually be quitting the Glee club entirely. And worse, breaking up with one of the club’s resident studs.
Ashley Fink, who plays the HIGHlarious, unique and beyond compare Lauren Zizies, reportedly will stay on the show as a recurring character, but to make room for so many of the new people on the show, she will have less of a presence this season than last.
That part we were okay with. We understand the need to make room for the newbies. They need their moments too. Besides, we always kind of thought Zizies was a year younger than the rest of the gang like Tina, thus she would get a bump up in storyline come season four. But then, the news of Zizies’ future at McKinley took a turn…
According to sources, not only will Lauren Zizies be QUITTING the Glee club (reason unknown), but she’s also BREAKING UP with Puck (reason also unknown, but strong speculation on this writer’s part leads to a certain blonde he once knocked up.) Cue our devastation…
Look, we understand there’s a lot to get done this season – graduation, new characters, Klaine’s first time (Yes? No? Sweeps?) – but to sacrifice Zizies is a travesty! She’s comedic gold! She’s a-mazing!
Thankfully, there is a ray of hope. So far, no one from Glee or Ashley’s camp is confirming she’s out of the club, and as one source puts it:
“It’s odd to go from being the ‘It Girl’ last season to getting tossed on the backburner. But this is Glee. Just when everyone thinks she’s out, they may pull her back in.”
So then, maybe we’re right. Maybe she is a junior and she’s taking a step back this season to give those who are seniors their last moments to shine. Maybe season four will all about the power of the Zizies.
Here’s hoping Ryan Murphy sees the potential in her that we and so many people see in her. She really speaks to a generation and community that is rarely represented on TV without judgement or pressure to change. We love us some Zizies sass – DON’T TAKE IT AWAY!!!
