Glen Powell Says THIS Is Why He Doesn't Wade Into Politics -- Is He Right, Or Taking The Easy Way Out?!

Glen Powell is staying far, far away from the political battlefield!

The 37-year-old actor opened up about his decision not to wade into politics in an Esquire profile published on Wednesday — and as you might suspect, his reasoning is certainly bound to get people talking.

In the profile, Powell explained:

“Over time, I realized that politics divide people. People trying to prove their point — for me, it’s the worst version of a conversation. I genuinely do not like the discourse. It’s not as healthy as it once was.”

And because political conversations can get so heated, the Great Beyond star apparently doesn’t think certain discussions are even “not presently possible” for him to have.

Still, Glen isn’t throwing shade at celebrities who do use their platforms for political activism. He said:

“I applaud people for jumping into those things and fighting for what they believe in. If I were a political person, I would be talking about it. For me, my calling is elsewhere.”

Fair enough… but is it?!

Instead of getting all too political, Powell says he’d rather focus on bringing people together through his work as an actor and screenwriter. His philosophy is this:

“I want to bring people together over a common thing. I believe in what I’m making, and I do work really, really hard to try to make sure that it’s something that audiences want. It’s not an easy thing to care so much.”

And apparently, he’s got plenty of support in his corner!

Speaking of which, Powell also had some seriously sweet things to say about girlfriend Michelle Randolph, when he got busy praising the Landman actress for sharing his priorities and values.

As we reported on Thursday afternoon, during the profile piece, he gushed:

“Life is fast for both of us, and we have the same values. She loves her family, I love my family and we both care about work a lot. We both like to show up for our partners — and yet we also understand the balance of it all.”

Awww!

The pair have been romantically linked since late last year and made their social media debut a few months back, although they’ve largely kept their relationship private. And judging by Glen’s latest comments, things sound pretty darn solid!

He added:

“There’s something so lovely about someone rooting for you. Someone who wants you to win in all the ways that are good for you as a human. Not just professionally but in all the ways that are good for your soul.”

Sooo sweet!

But back to politics…

Does Glen have the right idea by refusing to jump into the discourse like this?? Or is opting out easier when you’re privileged enough not to have politics directly threaten your day-to-day life, ya know?!
