Glenn Close Was In A Cult!

From age seven until she went to college, Glenn Close was in a cult!
The cult, an extreme conservative group called Moral Re-Armament, was a huge part of her life for years because her family joined when she was very young.
She said:

“It was a cult, where everyone was told to think alike, and that’s devastating.”

We’re surprised she’s the normal, well-rounded person she is today.
She toured the world with the cult’s musical group called Up With People until she went to college.
She actually believes that being in the cult actually helped her acting career.

“I decided that I would not trust even my instincts. Because I didn’t know what they were. Everything had been dictated.
It also gives you a huge sense of looking from the outside in, and I think that in many ways that has been very good as an actor, because you are somebody who is asked to go into a character… I always felt that I was held together with Scotch tape and paper clips, and, as an actor, that’s good.”

Wow.
We can’t help but kinda feel sad for her.
But she’s so successful and such a talented actress now.
It seems everything worked out in the end.
