The Government Will NOT Spy On Doctor's Offices

Yesterday we mentioned the government’s plan to employ “secret shoppers” (much like the kind businesses utilize to rate performance of employees) to call up doctors offices in a survey designed to see how physicians respond to potential patients with medicare or private insurance.

However, many docs will be pleased to here those plans have been scrapped!

An official from the Department of Health and Human Services has revealed their decision was most likely due to the outrage from the public, saying:

“After reviewing feedback received during the public comment period we have determined that now is not the time to move forward with this research project. Instead, we will pursue other initiatives that build on our efforts to increase access to health care providers nationwide.”

Instead, the government will focus on training new doctors and encouraging doctors to help patients in underserved areas.

Plenty of doctors were up in arms over what they saw as an inaccurate method of testing their ability to provide care for patients with different kinds of insurance and it looks like their voices were heard.
