We are buzzing like a Queen bee on honey-crack for deets on the seemingly epic, forthcoming musical trilogy from melodious masterminds Green Day…
And Billie Joe Armstrong has fed our addiction with some burning hot (ow!) info concerning the SOUND of ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! And its gonna be unlike ANY previous Green Day project.
Billie J recently expressed:
“People ask me all the time. Even my son asked me, ‘Dad, would you ever go back to playing songs like from [1994’s] Dookie and [1992’s] Kerplunk?’ I love those records. I love the punk stuff I grew up on. But there are so many bands who make the mistake ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ ‘We’re going back, old-school.’ Well, that’s all you’re doing. You already did it. So we’re changing the guitar sound. We’re not going with the big Marshall-amp thing. We wanted something punchier, more power pop ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ somewhere between AC/DC and the early Beatles.”
Sounds like a magical, mystery ADVENTURE!
AND for all you clubby-dance whores out there (INCLUDING US), there may be a track on ¡Dos! taylor-made for your twerking bodies!
BJA reveals:
“Mike asked me to write a song with a four-on-the-floor rhythm. I’d never done it before. It’s kind of like Sandinista!, Ian Dury’s “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” and the Tom Tom Club song, “Genius of Love.” We were trying to figure out how to make dance music without turning into a dance band.”
AWESOME BLOSSOM! SO incredibly psyched for ├é┬íUno!, ├é┬íDos!, and ├é┬íTr├â┬⌐!…
Green Day’s career has been SO varied, yet undeniably game-changing!
Mark your calendars people! ¡Uno! gets born September 25, ¡Dos! on November 13, and ¡Tré! causes the end of the world AFTER the end of the world on January 15, 2013.
