We’re shocked that this is a thing!
A father from Italy, mourning the loss of his 20-year-old son, chose to have his son’s remains turned into a diamond!
The Italian poppa exhumed and cremated his son, who died in a car accident, before sending the ashes off to a Swiss company that specializes in what they call Remembrance Diamonds.
The rings cost $18,000 and the process involves the refinement and filtering of the carbon found in ashes. After that, it’s moved to a specialized chamber where the diamond is eventually created.
After about 8 months, the father then received the ring where he’s been able to remember his son in style and in sentiment ever since.
It sounds a bit bizarre, not to mention expensive, but if it’s what the father wanted then he has the right to choose how to remember his son.
