Sad news!
Earlier in the week, we reported hints that G.R.L. had split up after fans noticed that group members Emmalyn Estrada and Paula van Oppen removed the “GRL” from their Twitter handles!
Well, the fans were right — the girl group’s disbandment is officially confirmed!

Representatives from the British pop group released the following statement on Tuesday:
“Nearly nine months following the tragic death of band member Simone Battle, girl group G.R.L. announces today that they are disbanding. We wish them continued success in each of their next creative endeavors.”
G.R.L. was originally a quintet until the tragic suicide of member Simone Battle last September.
The group’s remaining members — Paula, Emmalyn, Lauren Bennett, and Natasha Slayton — released the song Lighthouse, with a music video tribute to their late bandmate in January 2015.
We’re so sad to see this girl group break up, but we wish them each success in their careers!
