Guns N' Roses Drummer Steven Adler Hospitalized After Alleged Suicide Attempt

Steven Adler Guns N Roses suicide attempt

Our thoughts are with Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, who has been hospitalized in Los Angeles after a possible suicide attempt at his house, according to reports.
The 54-year-old rock star was at home in Studio City, California on Thursday evening, shortly after 6:30 p.m. local time, when the LAPD received a call at his residence; upon arrival, cops encountered one person with a possible stab wound, and transported them to the hospital.

According to People, the person in question who was wounded was reportedly Adler himself; furthermore, after investigation, local authorities have initially determined the incident appears to be an alleged suicide attempt.
LAPD spokesman Jeff Lee spoke to the outlet about the incident on Thursday evening, saying (below):

“Upon arrival [at Adler’s home], LAPD officers determined that there was no crime and the incident was being treated as a medical emergency only. The subject was transported via ambulance to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.”

According to the same report, a media representative for the rock star has not commented yet, neither confirming nor denying the allegations of a suicide attempt. Adler was first reported as being rushed to the hospital earlier on Thursday, hours before this new alleged information has now come to light about the causes.

A Rock Legend…

The Cleveland-born drummer first joined Guns N’ Roses back in 1985, signing up with Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, and L.A. Guns members Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner for what would quickly become one of the most influential and powerful groups in rock music during the 1980s. The group has released six studio albums, one live album, and a large amount of other music, but none was more popular or formative than their 1987 debut, Appetite for Destruction — which sold more than 28 million copies across the world.
Over the years since that successful debut, though, Adler has struggled with substance abuse issues. He was replaced at one point on a tour in 1987 after he broke his hand during an alleged bar brawl; he was later absent from the group in 1989 while going through drug rehab, and was then booted from the group altogether in 1990 because of his drug use. Months later, he was allowed to re-join the band on the condition that he not use drugs, and within a year, he was replaced again after his addiction continued to steadily worsen.

More recently, Adler was arrested for felony heroin possession at his Calabasas home, and in 2008, he appeared on the second season of Celebrity Rehab with host Dr. Drew.
Despite all this, Adler was still recognized as a member of Guns N’ Roses when the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio back in 2012. The band is currently touring — without Adler, of course — selling out shows for their throwback Not In This Lifetime tour.
Now, we sincerely hope the drummer gets the treatment and support that he needs right now.
