We’re just one episode into the second season of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, and fans are ALREADY pulling the plug on the star-crossed star’s relationship with her controversial beau!
Of course, the show follows ex-convict Gypsy Rose Blanchard as she navigates life after, well, lockup. And she’s also navigating life after ex-husband Ryan Anderson, too — by ditching him and getting with eventual baby daddy Ken Urker! But to hear fans tell it following the second season’s premiere episode on Monday, Ken ain’t all he’s cracked up to be…

So, ICYMI, during the first season of Life After Lockup, Ryan was criticized by viewers for what they felt were his controlling actions and manipulative habits. Suffice to say he was NOT well liked by many of the folks who tuned in. And now?? Well, it would seem the same situation is going on with Ken. Yuuuup!
The second season premiere included a restaurant scene in which Ken very strongly encouraged Gypsy Rose to eat a piece of octopus even after she said she wasn’t down with it. He then called her out to the waiter for not liking the dish — and forced her to try a second starter plate that she tried to swerve, too!
You can see the scene in question along with one TikTok user’s very strong opinions about it (below):
@itssobrittany season 2 of life after lock up with Gypsy Rose is already not looking good for this repick Ken… huge red flags from both sides in episode 1
Yeesh…
Here’s the thing, though: that one TikToker was far from the only person to pick up on the awkward and unsettling restaurant scene. Hundreds of other social media users popped up in the comments to share their two cents about Ken’s supposedly controlling and domineering ways, as well!
Catch a smattering of their quippy and contentious takes on Ken (and Gypsy Rose, too…) here:
“Why feel bad for her? .. that’s what she wanted….. that’s who she wanted to be with…. I mean… am i wrong?”
“How he said ‘You’re so disappointing,’ YIKES!!!”
“They’re both giant red flags. Gypsy is a manipulative weirdo. Anyone that would write her romantically behind bars is also a giant red flag. No normal nice guy would do this.”
“He was horrible to her. And him talking to the waiter like that! omg!”
“He HATES her.”
“Big red flag. He is trying to embarrass her, and it worked.”
“she pushed this whole relationship, she needs to deal with it.”
“The way he told her to swallow [the octopus] when she was gonna spit it out. Dudes a weirdo.”
“No job Ken is terrible. But also I don’t feel bad for her.”
Dayum!!
Viewers are not exactly being generous to Ken in light of his portrayal thus far very early on the series. And a lot of ’em def aren’t being that generous to the show’s eponymous star, either. Tough crowd!!
Reactions, Perezcious readers?? Y’all know what to do: share ’em in the comments (below)…
