Halle: "My Daughter Is Black!"

Why is there an argument over this again?
While we understand that heritage/race is an important part of one’s identity, at the moment Halle Berry is in the midst of some serious legal drama with her baby’s daddy.
She’s reported, though, in saying about her adorbs daughter Nahla:

‘I feel like she’s black. I’m black and I’m her mother and I believe in the one-drop theory.’

She went on:

“What I think is that that’s something she’s going to have to decide. I’m not going to put a label on it. I had to decide for myself and that’s what she’s going to have to decide – how she identifies herself in the world. And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That’s how I identified myself.”

And then she seemingly DOES put a label on her:

“But I feel like she’s black.”

All of this comes from the allegations of her ex, Gabriel Aubry, being extremely insistent on Nahla being white.
This is NOT what matters right now, parents. What matters is the well-being of your child, at any cost. This does not mean making her life a constant state of turmoil by being terrible to each other!
We REALLY think she should focus on solving all these issues, and looking out for the best interest of her child right now. Once all that is solved, then we see nothing wrong with exploring the subject matter further.
Responsibly, of course!
We hope Nahla is doing okay through all this!!
Thoughts??
