The box office is strong with this one.
Samuel L. Jackson seems to show up in a TON of movies every year, but that doesn’t mean he’s the box office champ!
With the massive success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford has officially overtaken the Hateful Eight star as the top-grossing actor in United States’ box office history, according to Box Office Mojo.

Even though the box office website marks the Fugitive actor as only having 41 films under his belt — they don’t include cameo/voice work or movies without grosses — his movies have grossed an insane $4.699 billion at the domestic box office — of course led by The Force Awakens which has a total $7.644 million as of now.
In comparison, Box Office Mojo marks Jackson’s film count at 68 films — obviously this would be a LOT higher with voice work and cameos — and the 67-year-old has a total box office gross of about $4.626 billion.
Marvel‘s The Avengers is clearly his biggest hit as it took in a cool $623.4 million for it’s U.S. box office total.
Of course, Jackson will probably steal the spot back from Harrison as he’s going to appear in The Legend of Tarzan, Kong: Skull Island as well as Tim Burton‘s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children soon — not to mention Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 & 2.
To be fair though, there’s a chance Ford could be in another Indiana Jones AND a Blade Runner sequel as long as the projects don’t fall through.

Other actors rounding out the top five are Tom Hanks with $4.334 billion, Morgan Freeman earning $4.316 billion, and Eddie Murphy pulling in $3.810 billion.
The top actress in U.S. box office history is Cameron Diaz for her string of successful movies like Charlie’s Angels and There’s Something About Mary. In comparison with all actors, Diaz lands at the number 15 spot with a total of $3.032 billion.
Are you surprised by these results??
