Harvey Weinstein has learned his fate in New York.
On Wednesday, a judge sentenced the disgraced movie producer to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley at his Manhattan apartment in 2006.
A jury convicted him of a first-degree criminal sex act at his retrial last year.
Before the sentence was handed down, Haley told the court how the assault and the years spent pursuing justice had affected her life, stating:
“It’s a life sentence for me.”
Weinstein, 74, expressed remorse for Haley’s pain in court but continued to insist he was innocent.
The case has taken a long road back to sentencing.
Weinstein was convicted in New York in 2020, but the state’s highest court overturned that conviction in 2024 and ordered a new trial. He was convicted again on the charge involving Haley in 2025. Prosecutors had asked for a 20-year sentence, but his defense argued for a shorter one, citing his health.
As we previously reported, Weinstein has continued to deny the accusations against him, including in a March interview where he criticized Gwyneth Paltrow for speaking out about her experience with him.
He also awaits resentencing in a separate California case. An appeals court upheld his 2022 rape and sexual assault convictions earlier this year but ordered a new sentence, setting aside the original 16-year term.
