Georgina Chapman's Fashion Brand Marchesa Is Doing 'Fantastic' Amid Estranged Husband Harvey Weinstein's Rape Allegations

marchesa is doing fine amid harvey weinstein scandal
Georgina Chapman clearly made the right calling by distancing herself from her scandalized husband, Harvey Weinstein.
As we previously reported, back in October, the fashion designer announced that she was leaving the indie movie mogul amid his sexual misconduct scandal. Since this decision, Weinstein’s ousting from Hollywood took an even darker turn as he was hit with accusations of rape.

Since a boycott of Chapman’s luxury label, Marchesa, was called when the scandal first broke, many have wondered how the intensified drama has affected the line. Well, according to senior vice president and fashion director of Neiman Marcus Ken Downing, business has been “fantastic” throughout this ordeal.
Still, the gossip around town is that A-listers are avoiding the red carpet wear like the plague. Stylist Tod Hallman dished to Pret-A-Reporter:

“Next up is the Golden Globes, and no one is going to wear it because they don’t want to answer the question, ‘Why?'”

Hallman also noted that this awards season will be free of Weinstein pressuring actresses to wear his wife’s designs. Apparently, back in 2006, Harvey bullied Felicity Huffman into wearing a Marchesa look to the Globes.
And it seems as though Tod’s words have some merit as it’s said not single celeb has been spotted wearing Marchesa since the troubling expos├â┬⌐s dropped. Nonetheless, Marchesa gowns are still popular among brides. A co-owner for the Kinsley James Couture Bridal boutique, named Amber Silva, shared:

“In our minds and in the mind of our brides, Marchesa as a brand is not associated with [Weinstein].”

Huh. Oh, and Lovella Bridal‘s store buyer and operations director Nayri Kalayjian added:

“If anything, we’ve been selling more Marchesa recently.”

Hmmm, very inneresting. Looks like Marchesa may survive, in spite of Tinseltown…
