Hayden Panettiere‘s relationship with Brian Hickerson continues to be a source of contention with her close friends and family.
As we reported earlier this week, the starlet’s inner circle has made it clear she really needs to move on from her bad-boy lover, the same one who’s facing felony charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence dispute involving the Heroes alum and Brian’s dad back in May.
A source close to the Nashville actress recently spoke to People about Hayden’s current status, revealing her four-year-old daughter Kaya is still living in Ukraine with her father, Wladimir Klitschko, following the pair’s split last August.

When you take a second to consider Panettiere’s volatile personal life lately, it does make sense to keep her little one out of the picture. The insider dished:
“Her life is in flux with her daughter living away, and she has other issues weighing on her mind.”
The last reported sighting of Kaya and her momma was back in February when the duo vacationed together. Hayden shared a snapshot of her daughter strapped in a car seat, which you can see (below):

At the time, a different insider shot down any rumors of Hayden being an absentee mother, telling People:
“To say she never sees her daughter isn’t true. Hayden has gone through changes since she had Kaya, and while some were not perfect, others have helped her grow. She is trying to feel good about herself, her life, and how she wants to go forward.”
But it’s been months since that little vacay… and the situation has obviously changed for the worse since then.
We can imagine how tough it must be for everyone involved; Kaya, who’s missing the presence of her mom at such a young age, and Hayden, who’s at the center of it all and grappling with some tough but necessary decisions she has to make to improve her quality of life.
A second insider told the publication their “heart breaks for what Hayden must be going through.”
“Hayden is a wonderful and talented girl who was so happy with her family. I hope she can wade through whatever has gone wrong and get her life back together.”
As for Hickerson, his legal situation is ongoing. The aspiring actor was charged with one count of felony domestic violence on May 23 and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Per RadarOnline, Brian appeared in court last week as a Los Angeles superior judge listened to testimony from the police officer who responded to the domestic violence call on May 2. During the hearing, the judge denied the motion to dismiss criminal charges against Hickerson and declined to consider a lesser misdemeanor charge.
If convicted, Hickerson faces up to four years in prison.
