He Is Golden

Despite mostly negative reviews, Will Smith‘s latest film, I Am Legend, is raking it in at the U.S. box office this weekend.

The movie made a very impressive $30 million on Friday and is expected to take in $80 million total this weekend.

The film’s take is good enough for the biggest December opening ever.

Also opening this weekend was the new Chipmunks movie, which also performed much better than expected. That film should take in about $40 million, almost double what had been predicted.

And, finally, Nicole Kidman‘s latest disaster, Golden Compass, completely disintegrated at the box office this past weekend.

It’ll be interesting to see if she can command a hefty payday for her next film. She’s movie poison!
