Helena Bonham Carter is checking out!
Earlier this year, we found out the actress will star in Season 4 of The White Lotus, which is set at a luxury hotel in France during the Cannes Film Festival. She joins actors like Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Charlie Hall, Chris Messina, Max Greenfield, and Kumail Nanjiani. However, do not get too excited about this star-studded cast! Although Helena reportedly had been at the top of producers’ casting wish list, when filming started a little over a week ago, creator Mike White ended up having a change of heart!

Deadline confirmed on Friday night that Helena has already exited the series! Whoa! It’s very rare for Mike to recast a role because he is so meticulous when it comes to picking his stars, so what happened?! A spokesperson for HBO explained it all came down to creative reasons:
“With filming just underway on Season 4 of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set. The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”
Hmm. Maybe fans will get to see Helena in another season of The White Lotus one day! Well, as long as she and Mike parted ways on good terms! We hope they did!
