Anyone else out there thinking that Hermes should stick to handbags??
Not that we don’t appreciate when fashion brands branch into other realms, but a $12,000 basketball hand-stitched from the same calfskin used to create Birkin bags just seems a liiiittle ridic.
Especially when the standard NBA ball is a measly $169.95 in comparison!
However, CEO Robert Chavez is convinced that the Pierre-Alexis Dumas created ball will be a slam dunk for at least two customers, since they already have a back-stock of two balls.
A pair of BLUE balls, LOLz!!
Why blue? Well according to Robert:
“It represents the sky, the ocean and all the beautiful pools that are a way of life in L.A. and Southern California. It certainly can be used for play — the leather is sturdy, and why not make such a unique item come to life on the court?”
Well for starters, the monetary risk of losing or damaging the ball may be a tad high.
But then again, if you’re ballin’ enough to dish out $12K on a basketball, we’re guessing money wouldn’t be your number one concern.
Now who wants some blue balls??
