That’s right, ladies. High heels might trigger migraines.
But, that’s not really according to “actual science” but rather “Michele Bachmann.” Ha!
Apparently, she refuses to wear high heels because she thinks they’re the cause of her migraines. Instead of, you know, her stress levels and such:
├óΓé¼┼ôI’ve been in practice almost 50 years treating headaches, and I’ve never seen high heels as a cause of them,├óΓé¼┬¥ says Dr. Seymour Diamond, executive chairman of the National Headache Foundation and founder of the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago. ├óΓé¼┼ôI think the stress of the campaign would more often be the provoker.├óΓé¼┬¥
Others agree, pointing out that women tend to wear heels for important events, and Bachmann may be no different; she may happen to have been wearing heels before important speeches or appearances that caused her some anxiety or stress, thus triggering a migraine. Migraine pain, a powerful pulsing or throbbing in one part of the brain, can be debilitating for some, and prevent sufferers from functioning. Bachmann’s staff denied the aide’s claims that the Congresswoman’s migraines can ├óΓé¼┬¥incapacitate├óΓé¼┬¥ her, and maintained that her episodes are under control with medication.
But, Michele isn’t the only woman who claims this and there MIGHT be a link between the stress on the lower back and the migraines. But, no studies have been able to prove it. In fact, migraines are still a huge mystery to science.
So if you get migraines and not wearing heels helps you, we say go for it. Just don’t go into it expecting actual results at first!
