Hilary Swank Regrets Going To President Of Chechnya's Birthday Party

And not because the goodie bags were just “eh.”
Hilary Swank and several other celebrities came under fire this week after it was reported they attended the birthday party concert for the President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov , a ruthless man accused of torturing and killing many, many people.
However, Hilary maintains that when she accepted the invitation, she had no idea what kind of man Chechnya was accused of being. She simply was interested in going to the concert. She released a statement today, explaining:

“I deeply regret attending this event. If I had a full understanding of what this event was apparently intended to be, I would never have gone.”

ORLY?! Can we ask you a question then?
If you had no idea who Ramzan Kadyrov was, how come you gave a speech at the event (above), where you not only offered him a, “Happy Birthday,” but also told the press, who questioned your knowledge of the President’s birthday:

“I read … I do my research.”

So, which is: did you know what kind of many Kadyrov is accused of being and didn’t care or were you trying to save face in front of the press in Chechnya? Either way, you’re a liar so ….
