Uh-oh! Some of these folks are NOT going to appreciate hearing this!
A new report has calculated the amount of money various TV personalities are paid per viewer – by dividing their annual income by the average number of people tuning into them. And we don’t know about you, but we were VERY surprised by some of the results!
For example, Keith Olbermann was the worst offender, as his $10 million salary for Current TV rounding out to almost $56 per person watching.
But he’s not on anymore, so now it’s Chelsea Handler as she makes $12 million a year for her work on Chelsea Lately, despite only having an audience of 0.7 million. This means she makes $16.70 per viewer!
Meanwhile, Anderson Cooper and David Letterman aren’t too far off, as the former gets $13.54 per each of his 0.4 million viewers for 360, and the latter makes $9.69 for each of the 3.2 million tuning in to him!
On the opposite end of the financial spectrum, Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Seacrest, and Christina Aguilera are considered grossly underpaid…even though they make some serious bank on their respective shows!
Although Kutcher makes $17 million a year on Two and a Half Men, the show brings in 14.7 million watchers…which means he’s paid $1.16 per viewer.
Worse off is Seacrest, whose $15 million salary, divided by the 20 million viewing American Idol, equals out to $0.75!
And Christina, with a $2.1 million in comparison to $12.7 million viewing The Voice, is a measly $0.17!
OUCH!
So interesting to think of their value being broken down under these terms!
But with their incomes, can ANY of them really make a stink?
We certainly hope not!
Either way, some of these folks better start crossing their fingers in hopes that Hollywood doesn’t adopt this technique when writing their paychecks!
