The Great White Way will be making way for a not-so-white wedding as a new musical based on the 1992 Honeymoon In Vegas is on the way. The film version starred Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker as a young couple on the verge of getting hitched in Sin City before a wealthy Vegas man named Tommy Korman, played in the film by James Caan, tries to thwart their plans.
While the actors to play the not-so-happy couple have yet to be announced (we are hearing that T.R. Knight was at the workshop for this though), Tony Danza has been pegged for the meddler’s role, which isn’t so much of a stretch, but when we start thinking about Tony singing and dancing surrounded by glittering Vegas lights …
Yeah, we’re cringing a bit over here. Sorry! Is there some reason why “new” Broadway shows keep getting adapted from B-movies? What is that about???
