Tears are streaming down our face because this is SO beautiful!
Darius Rucker, the man who helped start Hootie & the Blowfish and who is now a country star, interrupted a young student with Down Syndrome during his performance of Rucker’s While I Still Got The Time in his school’s talent show.
But he interrupted in the best of ways!
He and the young student named Frankie Antonelli proceeded to nail a duet together, and it was a very emotional moment indeed! Especially for everyone in that auditorium at Wando High School in South Carolina.
In fact, Darius himself tweeted about the performance, saying:
“Awesome time with my bud Frankie at last night’s Wando High School talent show. Thanks for letting me sing with you”
Frankie’s mom also tweeted:
“Frankie and @dariusrucker …like long time singin partners! Thx Darius! No one will ever kno how much u do for kids!”
And also wrote:
“Can’t count how many people told us Frankie can’t/won’t because he has Down Syndome. WRONG! He can and will. Thanks @dariusrucker”
So SO sweet!
We wish more stars and celebrities would do impromptu things like this – it really does make a difference in people’s lives!
