What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, or so the saying goes.
But a new study says that children who are exposed to violence at a young age exhibit changes in their DNA that could amount to several years of premature aging.
To put it bluntly – children who experience bullying or abuse, from the ages of five to ten, have a higher chance of living shorter lives than children who lead less stressful lives.
So scary!
Here’s what the study’s lead author had to say on the matter:
“Children who experience violence appear to be aging at a faster rate. This finding suggests the importance of including telomeres as stress markers in research to evaluate the effects of stress.├óΓé¼┬¥
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that abuse or violence can or will negatively affect a child.
But now scientists are proving it!
Which means we need to treat our kids better then ever!
Because after all – everything we do, everything we make – isn’t it all for the children?
Isn’t it?
