The lawyer exclaimed:

“I found your show so offensive… You used the N-word a lot.”

However, the 65-year-old immediately denied her accusation, explaining:

“We had a guy on from the Ku Klux Klan who very freely used the N-word, and my belief was, ‘Hey, say it out in the open.’ I didn’t use the N-word, let’s be very clear.'”

The “King of All Media” added:

“I don’t like people who live under a rock. I said to the guy, ‘Let me hear what you’re saying and let’s confront it and let’s talk about it.'”

Despite her claims, Hostin admitted that his new book — Howard Stern Comes Again (out May 14) — changed her opinion about him. She said:

“You’re a very different person today and I loved your book. I believe people evolve.”

Stern remarked:

“I’m not going to say the show isn’t crazy and wild… But we’ve also opened it up to some new ideas where people, some really fantastic people, are coming in and feel safe enough to be interviewed and get into some real conversation.”

In his wide-ranging interview, Stern also spoke about Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign.
Though he considered himself “a huge Hillary Clinton supporter,” he said the female politician  was “a candidate that was misunderstood” whose “message wasn’t coming across” to the public.
Even after “begging” her to appear on his radio show, she declined.

“I think she was afraid of me and justifiably… She played it safe, and that’s the warning to whoever becomes the Democratic nominee: Don’t play it safe.”

While noting that former Vice President Joe Biden is ahead in the polls, Stern said voters today seem to be playing it safe as well.

“Biden’s way ahead because I think people want a new president so badly that they want to play it a little safe.”

Additionally, Stern said he believes female candidates are suffering.

“I feel bad for the women running… But because everyone’s so nervous, they’re tightening up and saying, ‘It better be Joe Biden,’ because they got to get the best shot.'”

As we reported, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stern revealed he had a cancer scare two years ago.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, after canceling that day’s show, Stern went under the knife to remove a growth on his kidney that had a 90% chance of being cancerous. Prior to this, the radio personality attended a series of doctor visits due to his low white blood cell count.
He told the publication:

“And now all I’m thinking is, ‘I’m going to die’… And I’m scared sh**less.’”

Fortunately, the growth turned out to be a tiny, harmless cyst.
Health issues aside, Stern is “at a place now where [he is] trying to figure out how to spend the rest of [his] life, however long that might be” as his contract with SiriusXM — worth a reported $90 million a year — expires at the end of 2020.
